Terms and Conditions

Using Lanarkshire Family History Society web site constitutes your acceptance of these Terms and Conditions which take effect from the first date you visit the site. We, Lanarkshire Family History Society reserve the right to change these Terms and Conditions at any time by posting all changes online.
You are responsible for reviewing from time to time information posted online to obtain notice of such changes.

Terms of Sale for Publications and Membership Subscriptions


All prices are in £ (pounds) sterling, and inclusive of postage charges. VAT is not payable. We accept payment by cheque preferably drawn on a UK bank in £ sterling please (other main currencies may be accepted) and made payable to Lanarkshire Family History Society.

Prices and goods are subject to availability and may change at any time prior to acceptance of your order. We reserve the right to refuse your order, or to split your order, depending on availability of stock, information you provide, incorrect information shown on the website, unauthorised changes to the website and its functionality, and information provided by our bankers and credit providers. Information you provide may be passed to our credit providers.

You may cancel part or all of your order at any time before delivery, and up to 7 working days after delivery of goods. To cancel all or part of your order, write, saying you wish to cancel your order, and return the goods to the Lanarkshire Family History Society, C/o Motherwell Heritage Centre, Local History Room, High Road, Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, ML1 3HU. Scotland.
The goods returned must be complete, and in original packaging. In the case of CDs, the packaging must be sealed. Within 30 days of receipt of your cancellation and the returned goods we will refund the cost of the goods plus the outward postage (but not your return postage).




Terms of Sale for Research Requests

We reserve the right to refuse your request, information you provide, incorrect information shown on the website, unauthorised changes to the website and its functionality, and information provided by our bankers and credit providers.
Information you provide may be passed to our credit providers.
Our volunteers will work on your research request as soon as they have the time, however no date can be estimated or guaranteed. We cannot guarantee that the research will provide the information you're seeking, or any information, nor that the research will be correct or complete. Irrespective of the results obtained, you will still be charged the cost of the research.
Our maximum liability is limited to the amount charged.
We will accept cancellation of a research request only if our volunteers have not started working on it.
To cancel your research request, write, saying you wish to cancel your research request to, Lanarkshire Family History Society, Research Coordinator, C/o Motherwell Heritage Centre, Local History Room, High Road, Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, ML1 3HU. Scotland. In the event that we haven't started working on your research request, we will not make a charge.
